The word tokenism is often spoken with hesitation, as though any attempt to acknowledge or include First Nations peoples might run the risk of falling into that category. The fear of appearing tokenistic can stop well-meaning ideas before they ever take shape. But perhaps the more important question is: what distinguishes tokenism from true inclusion?
